Glasgow Airport is the second largest in Scotland, and also one of the most important airports in the United Kingdom. It is international, and handles over 9.6 million passengers per year. Arriving and departing passengers will find all the amenities they require in the airport’s single terminal building, as well as more than adequate parking facilities. The parking areas at Glasgow Airport are also of a high standard, well secured and offered at competitive rates.

Glasgow Airport is situated only 8 miles (13 km) from the center of Glasgow City, and there are many prominent roads providing easy access to the airport. Passengers arriving at the airport will find one main terminal building, known as Terminal 1, and a satellite extension dedicated to low-cost airlines, referred to as T2. Short-term and long-term parking options are available, and these areas are as conveniently located as possible. Passengers and their luggage may be dropped off in the dedicated drop-off zone in front of the terminal, but all collections must take place from Car Park 1. New security regulations at airports do not allow individuals to park and wait outside the airport terminals.

Short-Stay Parking at Glasgow Airport

This parking area is located nearby and adjacent to the terminal building, and within easy walking distance of the terminal. The areas dedicated to short-term parking are Car Park 1 and Multi-storey Car Park 2. Either of these car parks are ideal for meeting friends or relatives at the airport, or if you will only be gone for a short period. The multi-storey car park is however slightly more expensive than Car Park 1. The short-stay car parks at Glasgow Airport hold the nationally recognized Secure Car Parks Award, and feature 24-hour staffing, frequent patrols and CCTV coverage in order to ensure their security.

Car Park 2 is easy to find – if you have exited the M8 at Junction 28, go past the first roundabout staying in the left hand lane, and at the second roundabout, turn right into St Andrews Drive. You will then see the entrance to the parking area to the left, about 50 meters ahead. Motorists arriving from St James Interchange should take the exit for Glasgow Airport and turn left into the one-way system. Continue past the Holiday Inn, and at the roundabout, turn left. The car park’s entrance is now straight ahead.

The multi-story Car Park 2 offers undercover parking spaces, except for those on the roof level, and there are no requirements to hand in your keys. The maximum height allowed for this area is 2.2 meters, or 7ft 2in, and no trailers are permitted. When arriving, simply take a ticket from the machine and note your row and level. Pay stations areas for parking are located on the ground floor of the terminal building.

Long-Stay Parking at Glasgow Airport

The long-stay parking area is more economical to use if you will be away for a few days. Although conveniently located, passengers will need to use the shuttle buses to reach the terminal building. These courtesy coaches operate 24-hours a day, and there is one available every 10-15 minutes. During peak seasons they operate even more frequently. The trip to the terminal will take just ten minutes. In order to return to the parking areas, wait for the shuttle at Bus Stop 3 outside the entrance to International Arrivals/Departures. The Glasgow Long Stay Car Park offers good security, with CCTV coverage and enclosed security fences. The area is also frequently patrolled and manned 24-hours a day. There are no height restrictions for this parking area, but no trailers are allowed.

Motorists can use the following directions in order to reach the long-stay parking area when arriving from St James Interchange (or J29 M8 East). Move to the right hand lane in the one-way system after taking the exit for Glasgow Airport and turn right at the first set of traffic lights. At the roundabout turn left into St Andrews Drive and continue to the next roundabout. From here turn right into Sanderling Road, continue to the next roundabout and turn left into Abbotsinch Road. At the next roundabout turn right into Arran Avenue You will then see the area for long-term parking. When traveling from Glasgow City Center, ensure you are in the right hand lane on the slip road after exiting at Junction 28, and turn right into Sanderling Road at the first roundabout. At the next roundabout go straight across. Turn left into Abbotsinch Road at the next roundabout, and continue to another roundabout where you will turn right into Arran Avenue. The car park will now be in view.

Short-Stay Fast Track Parking at Glasgow Airport

This is a service offered by Glasgow Airport for those who want to get into the airport more quickly. The parking area is located on Level 2 of the multi-storey Car Park 2, and has wider parking spaces and an enclosed walkway leading directly to the entrance of Security. This is ideal for those passengers who have already checked-in online and have only hand baggage. Payments for parking in this area can be made at the machines on the ground floor and second floor of the terminal building.

Glasgow Airport is well-equipped for disabled passengers, with reserved seating, adequate toilet facilities and additional assistance offered by staff if necessary. There are also plenty of parking spaces available for disabled drivers. In the short-stay parking areas there are dedicated spaces for blue badge holders on all floors, while in the long-stay parking area the dedicated spaces are conveniently located nearby the bus stops. The courtesy coaches are able to assist passengers in wheelchairs as well.
